Learning for Life Series: Adherence to Iron Chelators, Hydroxyurea and Other Therapies

Patients & Families and Health Care Providers Townhall Forum

On behalf of the Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario (SCAGO) and the Thalassemia Foundation of Canada (TFC); you are cordially invited to join Dr. Isaac Odame, Dr. Melanie Kirby-Allen and many more healthcare professionals at the upcoming Learning for Life forum on Adherence to Iron Chelators, Hydroxyurea and Other Therapies.

Purpose of Forum:

It was evident that many individuals may not comply with prescribed treatment regimens due to lack of full understanding on the importance and benefits of a prescribed treatment vs adverse effect of non –adherence. Others factors that could reduce adherence could be fear brought about due to receipt of incomplete information on side-effects, dislike for medications, certain rules around using some medications etc.

The forum would provide families the opportunity to discuss short and long term concerns and challenges around treatment as well as provide answers to your questions. Come prepared with your questions regarding therapies for hemoglobinopathies and let’s share our experiences and solutions.
