2010 Valentine’s Dinner and Dance Fundraiser
The event, as you are aware, is intended to raise much needed funds for the Thalassemia Foundation of Canada. The funds raised are completely dedicated to education, research andprovide necessary medical equipment for patients suffering from Thalassemia.

Funds collected by the Thalassemia Foundation of Canada have made it possible for International funding grants to be endowed for scientific research in the field of hemoglobinopathies and the eventual eradication of Thalassemia.

This event is our main source of funding and it is becoming an arduous task to find the “Cure for the Millennium” for Thalassemia. It is our hope that people, such as yourself, are able to continually nurture our cause.

When: Saturday February 6th, 2010
Where: Royalton Banquet Hall ♦ 8201 Weston Road Vaughan, ON., L4L 1A6 ♦

The cost of the ticket is $100 and a partial tax receipt will be issued. Cocktails will beserved at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will follow at 7:30 p.m., complimentary full service bar is also included with the ticket price. Canadian Thalassemia Guidelines Now Available for Patients and Their Families
The Thalassemia Foundation of Canada is proud to announce that the Guidelines for the Clinical Care of Patients with Thalassemia in Canada are now complete and available for physicians, patients, and their families. The guidelines are the result of over three years of research, development, and review by a dedicated team of writing and project planning group from across Canada including hematologists, physicians, and nurses, and based on their consensus. The document was also reviewed by parents and patients to ensure that it was both relevant and accurate for all readers.

Spearheaded by Dr Isaac Odame of The Hospital for Sick Children and funded by the Thalassemia Foundation of Canada, these much anticipated guidelines offer hope to our patients that healthcare providers will now have a benchmark to strive towards while caring for our patients. Additionally, the guidelines also offer patients and parents of patients with thalassemia with a concrete document that they can refer to, to both ensure--and demand--they receive the best possible care, management, and treatment available.
